WHALE WATCHING

During August, September and October don´t miss the chance to offer to your clients the impressive watching of the humpback whales off the coast of Piura, Peru. Each “marine life observation” tour contributes to humpback whale conservation, these tours also serves as a research platform for our staff of marine biologists who are investigating several whale ecological aspects such as behavioral activities, distribution and population. Humpbacks arrive to the northern coast of Peru from Antarctic waters to breed and raise their calves during the reproductive season. In our excursions it is possible to watch this magnificent cetacean taking spectacular jumps, swimming, diving in groups, and you may even have the opportunity of seeing the first games of the young under the watchful eye of their enormous mothers. This tour encompasses a broad navigation in which we have achieved an 80% success rate sighting humpback whales in previous seasons. In addition, it is possible to see the fascinating marine life of the zone, like the bottle nose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), the common dolphin (Delphinus capensis, D. delphis), sea lions (Otaria flavescens), sea turtles (Chelonia mydas), sea birds such as the blue footed booby (Sula nebouxi) and the magnificent frigatebird (Fregata magnificens), navigating in the convergence zone between the cold Humboldt ecosystem and the warm equatorial ecosystem Departure: early in the morning, approximately at 7:30 am Duration: approximately 3. 5 hours.
